HOPE
Hope is the "red-headed stepchild" of the virtues; faith is big because "without faith it's impossible to please God", and faith can move mountains. Love is big because "the greatest of these is love"! So, "hope"sort of falls through the cracks. But hope is a big deal. Without it, people often commit suicide - one way or another. I love the quote from Bill Johnson: "Any area of your life where you don't have hope is under the influence of a lie"! So, are there any areas of your life where you need an infusion of hope? Are there lies that you're believing that are crushing hope out of your life? Here's a great promise/prayer: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13)

ReplyDeleteI agree with you that we all need hope in our lives, and that hope seems to take a back seat, in many peoples lives. It seems that it is easier to expect the worst then to have hope and possibly be disappointed. However when having hope for God's promises and help in life, we will NEVER be disappoint, unless our thoughts do not line up with His word.
My thought is this: Isn't hope part of faith? Because Hebrews 11:1 tells us that NOW, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. In my opinion, when you have faith for something, you are in return hoping for it. If without faith it is impossible to please God, and faith is the substance of things hoped for, then hope is a part of Faith, they go hand in hand. :o)

Merriam Webster dictionary it gives this definition: essential nature : essence b : a fundamental or characteristic part or quality c Christian Science : god 1b
Faith is the substance of hope. You could say that hope is an essential ingredient to faith and without it, you can't have faith.

My husband (Doug) and I really enjoyed Sunday's service, we fell in love with the church and the members! We will be making it our home church! It was answered prayer!
